BODIES IN MOTION• Inclusive Dance Workshop and Performance

Stopgap Dance Company (UK) and InForm (Georgia) invite you to join a five-day intensive workshop in inclusive dance. 

Date: May 27–31 Time: 10:00–16:00
Age: 18 and above 
Location: Movement Theatre, 182 Davit Aghmashenebeli Ave, Mushtaidi Garden  The space is accessible. Please contact us in advance if you have any specific accessibility needs. 
Working language: English, with Georgian translation  (Sign language interpretation will be provided if needed)

The workshop is open to disabled and non-disabled artists and enthusiasts of all levels interested in inclusive performing arts: dancers, actors, choreographers, directors, dance educators, or anyone wishing to gain or develop experience in this field.

During the workshop, you will: 

  • Explore inclusive dance and choreography practices.

  • Work with leading inclusive performing arts practitioners from the Stopgap Dance Company (UK) and InForm (Georgia).

  • At the end of the workshop, participants will create a collaborative, site-specific performance.

The aim of the workshop is to deepen dialogue around inclusion, accessibility, and equal participation, both in the performing arts and in the wider public sphere.

Founded in 1995 in the United Kingdom, Stopgap Dance Company is a global leader of disability access in dance and continuously examines best practice. Stopgap actively advocates for the industry and the wider world to become more inclusive. Through their universal methodology of inclusive dance and choreography, contemporary dance is translated into the unique abilities of dancers of all bodies and minds.

InForm - Platform for Inclusive Minds supports the development of inclusive performing arts in Georgia and promotes the participation of disabled people in contemporary artistic processes. Through inclusive performances, workshops, and educational programs created by both disabled and non-disabled professional and amateur artists, InForm establishes a distinct performative language within the Georgian contemporary performance scene.

Co-Artistic Director of Stopgap Dance Company, Lucy Bennett has been creating bold, internationally acclaimed work since 2008. From the award-winning Artificial Things to the critically celebrated Lived Fiction, her choreography spans stage, film, and global festivals - reaching audiences worldwide.

Stopgap UK

Wheelchair dancer, choreographer, and Senior Dance Artist at Stopgap. Since joining the company in 2016, he’s performed worldwide and at major national events. His debut work RO-TES marks his exciting emergence as a choreographer.

DAVIT KHORBALADZE

InForm Georgia

Multidisciplinary artist working across theatre, music, text, and new media, collaborating with InForm as director and curator. His works, presented in Georgia’s independent and state theatres, explore memory, identity, and sexuality, intertwining politics, the body, and mass culture.

JACOB GOGOTISHVILI

InForm Georgia

Dancer, choreographer, and yoga instructor with a background in Georgian national dance. A member of InForm since 2022, he has performed in In C – Tbilisi and FOLKS. He also contributes to InForm’s educational and community programs, teaching and facilitating inclusive dance classes.
